Pouring the foundation wall with the three inch fire hose assembly gives the hose man excellent control and helps keep the job clean. We taped the top of the ICFs to keep concrete out of the interlocking connections. You can see the Simpson ledger connector inside the wall that gets enveloped in concrete and provides a positive connection for the floor framing.

The ICFs have been set and braced for the basement level. Our first pour will be just over the level of the first floor to secure the simpson ledger connectors for the floor framing. You can see the openings for exterior doors and the transition from 8 inch below grade ICFs to 6 inch above grade ICFs. Please check out the video below:

Jim,

I spent several years designing my dream home and researching products and building methods. I really liked the idea of ICFs (insulated concrete forms) for my basement walls which lead me to you. Being a rookie home builder I also appreciated the extra effort you made throughout the construction process to explain the science and philosophy of how everything worked, helping me work out details like window and door placements, and all the advise and insight you gave me on the whole process of building an energy efficient long lasting home. My rocky site and unique design (lots of 45 degree angles) created many interesting challenges but you made it all seem easy.

In the end I have a foundation water-proofed from underneath with perfectly level and continuous drains inside and out with insulated, water-proofed walls. I am extremely happy with my choice of ICFs and ICF Building Company, I would highly recommend you to anyone wanting to build a house that makes sense.

Our client in Glastonbury CT is a contractor who has decided to build his own ICF home with the help of his family and friends.
